I have watched in the past few years as people have joined Churches to try to change them. Claiming that they believe in that particular religion, except for a few things.
I have found through my life that truth is truth. It either is or it isn’t wanting to change it does not make it untrue. And we must either accept that truth or go find a different truth we would rather follow.
If you believe in a church, or religion and accept their teachings or doctrines as truth, you must accept it all.
It is all or nothing. It is either true or not. You can’t have it both ways.
If you wish it to be different, then go and make your own church with the beliefs that you think are true. Others may follow you, but those who do not, should not be forced into your way of thinking.
Change is not always for the better, and it is not always for the worse. Change happens.
But we as mere mortals trying to change the mind and will of the universe is like throwing a stone into a raging river. You may see a splash as it enters, but the force of the river diminishes and erases the ripples. And the poor stone tossed into the torrent never lands where we intended. It tumbles along chipping and forcing other out of their place as it races by.
To those of you who know better than me: please just sit there smiling to yourselves and know you are free to offer your opinion. Just don’t try to force me to follow it. It is a battle that neither one of us wants. I would rather be your friend.
Would you enjoy me forcing you to follow my opinions? No.
To those of you who would change a Religion from within: Go find another religion that teaches what you want. Or make you own.
We cannot find true peace until we find it in ourselves. We cannot love another until we truly love ourselves. We cannot find acceptance until we accept others as they truly are. Leaving them to make their own decisions, offering a shoulder to cry on, a cheer for success, and loving them for and not in spite of our differences.
True wisdom comes from doing not thinking. Wisdom is intelligence in action.
“O be wise; what can I say more?” (Jacob 6:12)
